  15. METZ Phones 5.0 Now Shipping
  16. Offers Network, Workgroup Support

  18. Bellevue, Wash. -- METZ Software has today announced it is
  19. shipping METZ Phones 5.0, a major upgrade to its existing
  20. Windows(TM) address and telephone manager.  METZ has targeted
  21. the networked office that needs to solve address and telephone
  22. management problems.  METZ Phones will carry a SRP of $89.
  23.  
  24. "There is a growing need to simply and effectively manage common
  25. address and telephone databases on networked PCs," said Art Metz,
  26. President of METZ Software.  "We developed METZ Phones to fill
  27. the need, giving workgroups and networked offices easy access to
  28. shared database information."

  30. METZ Phones features support for a wide variety of networks, yet
  31. works well as a stand-alone product.  Extensive printing support
  32. includes pre-defined and custom labels, envelopes and a variety
  33. of report formats.  Additional features include easy data import
  34. and export, a hotkey "dialer" that works from any Windows
  35. application and comprehensive searching and sorting capabilities.

  37. METZ Phones 5.0 is available directly from METZ Software at an
  38. introductory price of $49; registered users of any METZ Software
  39. product can purchase Phones at the upgrade price of $29.  A
  40. full-featured trial version of Phones is available for download
  41. from METZ Software's CompuServe and America Online forums.  On
  42. CompuServe type GO METZ; on America Online choose the goto keyword
  43. of METZ, or contact METZ Software to order a trial disk.

  61.    CompuServe
  62. 1.   Type GO METZ
  63.      or from WinCIM choose the Services - Go command, enter "METZ".
  64.      This takes you to the WINAPC forum.
  65. 2.   Choose Library - Browse.
  66. 3.   Select METZ Software.
  67. 4.   Download METZ Phones 5.0 part 1 of 2 (PART1.EXE) and
  68.               METZ Phones 5.0 part 2 of 2 (PART2.EXE) files.
  69.      Place the files in an empty directory if you can.

  72. 1.   Choose the GoTo - Keyword command.
  73. 2.   Enter "METZ" and choose OK.
  74. 3.   Open the Software Library.
  75. 4.   Download METZ Phones 5.0 part 1 of 2 (PART1.EXE) and
  76.               METZ Phones 5.0 part 2 of 2 (PART2.EXE) files.
  77.      Place the files in an empty directory if you can.

  79. To create an installation disk from the download:
  80. 1.  To create an installation floppy disk, insert a blank formatted
  81.     high density 3.5" floppy disk.
  82. 2.  From the DOS prompt:
  83.     Switch to the floppy disk (A: or B:)
  84. 3.  From the floppy disk run PART1.EXE, then PART2.EXE from your hard
  85.     drive.  If you downloaded the files to C:\DOWNLOAD - run
  86.     C:\DOWNLOAD\PART1.EXE and C:\DOWNLOAD\PART2.EXE.
  87.     The Phones install files will then be expanded onto the floppy disk.
  88. 4.  From Windows, run A:\INSTALL.EXE or B:\INSTALL.EXE to complete
  89.     the installation process.
  90. 5.  You can now delete the PART1.EXE and PART2.EXE files.

  92. To install from the download directory:
  93. 1.  From the DOS prompt:
  94.     Switch to the download directory (i.e. C:\DOWNLOAD).
  95. 2.  Run PART1.EXE and PART2.EXE.
  96. 3.  The Phones install files will then be expanded into the directory.
  97. 4.  From Windows, run INSTALL.EXE - installing METZ Phones to a
  98.     separate directory.
  99. 5.  You can now delete the PART1.EXE and PART2.EXE files.
